Hello, my name is Stephen and I am a research addict.

Hey, Andy. Long time, no see. Now that I own a home, it's gotten even worse. Recently, I was up till three in the morning one night reading professional plumber online forums about toilet models--and don't get me started on the difference between water softeners.

You might enjoy something I wrote a little while back called "Who does money control more: the saver or the spender?"

Hi there,

found your website over the google redirect virus (my first ever virus). quick simple repair..thanks a zillion!

I know what you mean about stuff taking up time. My problem, is that the more costly or important the purchase the more time I spend researching it. I'm sure its an exponential relationship. I really have to make sure I have checked all possible options, and when I've edecided which version I want, I then have to research where its cheapest. I have been realising that if I were to charge myself for the time spent researching the cheapest product, I would probably have spent more than just getting it from more usual reputable internet site/high street shop.

This is where all my time is disappearing too!

New Years resolution: don't research so much!

I actually never thought about it like that, but we're horrible about getting rid of stuff we don't use. (Mainly because I married a packrat. :-)

Nina,

I agree with you...people are the best possible thing you can invest in. Of course, I think the same rule still applies. The more people you know, generally the more people you keep up with, and this can eventually dilute your quality of investment. It's another aspect of life that is, of course, highly personal in nature, but demands conscious value choices on a daily basis. Thanks for the thoughts and warm wishes!

Andy,

The more you own, the more that owns you!

It all depends on how much you want, need, or are passionate about what you buy will justify the expense and the amount of time you spend with it. I now am more interested in investing my time in people and relationships as their return is typically greater (I've learned over much time) and longer lasting.

Wishing you a Happy New Year filled with goodness...not necessarily good 'things' :-)
